We Deya 18/5/24 - Performance

sold out

WE DEYA is a multi-arts, interactive performance combining film, sound, performance poetry, and storytelling. It weaves interview and documentary with live performance, creating moments for the audience to reflect and respond to the stories of the Windrush generation and their descendants.

This piece has been developed by second generation Caribbean artists who have collected stories from local elders through one to one interviews and group workshops, focusing on and where joy was found during a hostile environment. It explores the themes of arrival and prolonged stay, and how communities are built, sustained and celebrated.

After sold-out performances last year in Newham, We Deya returns to Southwark for two performances (matinee and evening) on Saturday 18th May 2024. We invite the audience up close to our staging, which also serves as an exhibition of artefacts and personal memories.
